Itinerary

Day 1

Uyuni Salar de Uyuni Uyuni

  • We start at approximately 10:00, from the agreed-upon point for the beginning of the tour.
  • Our first visit is to the Train Cemetery where you can observe a large number of steam locomotives and carriages from the early days of railways, of English and French origin.
  • Then we arrive at Colchani, whose inhabitants dedicate themselves to salt extraction from the Salar using rudimentary tools.
  • We enter the wonderful Salar de Uyuni; on our way we can observe the Salt Eyes, holes in the surface of the Salar, where you can observe the icy saline that exists below and, through them, residual parts of the ancient lake can be seen.
  • Arrival at Hotel Playa Blanca; the interesting thing about this hotel is that it is built entirely of salt blocks; the construction itself is rustic and its position in the middle of the Salar makes it a unique attraction.
  • We continue toward Incahuasi Island, located 102 km from the town of Uyuni; the Island is in the middle of the Salar, it is the most outstanding visit of the day for its very interesting display of flora and fauna unique in the world; after a short hike to the top of the island we will enjoy a beautiful landscape of the Salar de Uyuni. We will have time to take beautiful photographs and if you wish, some fun ones too.
  • Finally, we head back toward Uyuni, not before witnessing a wonderful sunset, a spectacle full of color.

Day 2

Uyuni Coquesa Andean Jewels Laguna Hedionda

  • At approximately 09:00 am, we begin the journey south. We will stop at a viewpoint to observe the Ollagüe Volcano in the distance; this volcano forms a natural border with Chile and, being active, shows gas emissions.
  • Now it is time to head toward the lagoons known as the "Andean Jewels." The first is Laguna Cañapa, characterized by being surrounded by ranges of extinct volcanoes; its greenish water contrasts majestically with the colorful flamingos that inhabit the area. Next is Laguna Hedionda, whose waters have a high sulfur content, giving off a strong odor; this lagoon is also home to flamingos and a variety of wild ducks and partridges.
  • We arrive at the "Los Flamencos" eco-lodge at 4,500 meters above sea level, situated in a landscape painted with a palette of colors that nature has whimsically combined.

Day 3

Laguna Hedionda Eduardo Avaroa Reserve Uyuni

  • We depart at approximately 6:30 in the morning; today we will visit the Eduardo Avaroa National Reserve. On the way, we will visit the Stone Tree in the middle of the Siloli Desert, a very particular wind-formed formation.
  • The highlight of this day is the beautiful Laguna Colorada, but before heading there, we will visit Sol de Mañana where you can observe fumarolas emerging from deep within the earth.
  • Then we begin the visit to Laguna Colorada, which especially in winter has reddish waters due to the presence of plankton, microscopic flagellated algae of the Dunaliella salina species.
  • After lunch, the moment arrives to head back toward Uyuni, for approximately 6 hours. On the way, we will make our last visits of the trip at the Valley of Rocks and the town of San Cristóbal.
  • Arrival in Uyuni at approximately 18:00.
